What is holding us back is an #education system that is too reliant on compliance and not on developing skills.

It’s a mindset.

But there are some specific things that achieve it…

However, it’s not the activities, but how you treat #students, moment to moment, and day to day.

A single activity isn’t enough

Probably not a good idea - that's exactly what Trump wants to do, and it is exactly what happens in countries like Nicaragua and Cuba. Reliable access to government services is based on party affiliation or perceptions, and it causes distrust and erodes the fabric of society.

People love telling us to “just ask for help,” but the moment we do, we get told we’re dramatic, demanding, or difficult.

Or worse, ungrateful.

And then they wonder why we shut down...

Autistic Regulation Isn’t Calm – It’s Connection Regulation doesn't always mean what you think it does

Many of us look dysregulated when we’re actually fine.

Excitement gets labelled hyperactivity.

Passion gets labelled aggression.

Directness gets labelled conflict.

All because regulation has been defined through a neuronormative lens that prizes composure over truth.

How my lack of social-emotional reciprocity and literal thinking led to my grandmother throwing my cheese puffs in the trash 😩😩

I didn't know it then, but being #autistic made it a unique sensory experience for me.

Sometimes the music and sights could be ecstatic.

But somewhat more frequently they were overwhelming...

In the end, the noise was essential.
