Naw, I doubt that ever really happened; IMO the point of that scene is to explain the Roman destruction of the temple as Jesus’s foretold revenge on the Jews. See Matthew 27:25: “Then the people as a whole answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!””

I wasn’t sure I could trust a “retelling” from someone who can’t read sanskrit that comes out to less than 1/10th the original’s size (still 900 pages btw), but Satyamurti’s poetry is very very readable in all aspects and she told a damn good story. Maybe Le Guin’s Tao Te Ching is my next?
