I see it partly as a result of corporate media beginning to use the term alt-right in place of extremists. Conservatism merged with RW extremism and cons never pushed back.

The purchase of Twitter was intended to expand those voices, while demonizing those who pushed back or called them out.

I feel like since most corporate media started using the term “alt-right” as if it wasn’t an anagram for neo-nazi, the extremist views of the right got soft-focus treatment.
Conservatism and right-wing extremism merged and no one blinked. And conservatives never pushed back.

It’s terrible how conservative morphed into extremism and nobody blinked….
