06.08.2025 02:17 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Want to build faster websites? Here's how:
- Learn how browsers parse, layout & paint
- Treat JS as a tool, not the foundation(!)
- Favor static HTML or server side rendering at all times
- Use Core Web Vitals alongside other metrics to learn shortfalls, improve and iterate
Then keep doing that.
Wait till AI will start helping you optimize your git history ;)
20.07.2025 23:16 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0People keep telling me that paying 10x+ for React or Angular vs a contemporary tool like Fast, Lit, Svelte, Preact, Qwik, or Solid (etc. etc.) is fine because "it's only 50K."
And I hear that, but by the third or fourth React version on the page, I really start to wonder.
Screenshot showing part of the Chrome DevTools Performance tab In the images there's four custom tracks - LoAFs, Long Tasks, Soft Navigations and Interactions Contentful Paint The highlighted Soft Navigation took 4.03s
Been playing with Chrome's experimental support for measuring soft-navigations / route changes
Think there's a few people in for a rude awakening when we can really measure SPA performance in the wild
Are you curious how browsers work? I'm working up a list of essential web performance resources, and many of the talks from this 2020 instance of Chromium University ("internal" training for Chromies) are incredible:

This essential post by @tammyeverts.com chimes with my experiences; teams I talk with don't understand that there are huge gains to be had when they finally get perf under thresholds that they think of as "impossible" with today's JS-laden stacks:

Pages are only good for switching between modes, but youโd probably want everything for stream on the same page. That being said, it was a gift from my kids so I didnโt make a buying decision on it ;)

When you write a tech book, you don't do it for ๐ฐ๐ฐ. You do it to share a topic you're passionate about.
When I get a royalty for my book, I don't think "Time to go shopping!" I think "Folks want to learn about one of my favourite topics!"
If you've read my book, thank you! I'd love your feedback!
Debugging is 80% of coding.
Once you accept that, everything gets easier.
Congratulations on the acquisition! Hope youโll all continue the openness of Nuxt ecosystem!
