I probably wrote more words about Pope Francis than any other spiritual leader.

I was at St. Peter's the night he was elected and the day he was elevated, I covered his visits to DC, NYC, Philly, and Ireland, and I followed him closely even after my bylines disappeared.

Here are a few favourites:

I'm so grateful for his light. I'm so saddened that it's no longer here to help light our way through this terribly dark era.

Pope Francis was singular. HIs love was immense. His legacy, eternal. He wanted to be a "shepherd with the smell of the sheep" on him. And he cared for them relentlessly.
