John Williams’s birthday was yesterday, February 8. He turned 94.

Chambline is the best. There’s so much there it’s overwhelming in the best possible way.

Us, too. Premium for our current plan went up $1,000 a month. And checking the marketplace, most other companies are no longer available for ACA and have become employer-based only. So we are stuck between two companies costing much more that still make you pay a ton for care on top of the premium.

Last Thursday I witnessed two guys beating each other up in the CVS on the corner of 14th and 8th. They left a wake of destruction behind them as they finally got their fight out to the sidewalk. It was pretty alarming.

Surprised she didn’t pitch an interview with Julie Andrews, who was married to Blake Edwards who directed The Pink Panther.

This is great! Also did I hear correctly a character mention someone getting eaten by a machine or press, like in The Mangler?

I just got my renewal notice from Florida Blue and my high deductible HSA plan is increasing from $1,300 a month to $2,200 a month. Not sure how we can manage it anymore.

Can someone ask him to name the wars he ended? Is Helms Deep one of them?

Alec Guinness’s last movie!

There was just an actors and writers strike to prevent this. Apparently was a waste of time and energy.

Sneakers. My favorite movie of all time.

Loved Pushing Daisies! Two that quickly come to mind for me are Rubicon and Mad Dogs.

Not a movie, but the season of The Wire that focused on the newspaper was pretty damn spot on.

This was such an excellent in depth interview with Kaplan from the Goldsmith Odyssey conducted last October. Absolutely worth a listen.

So many great scores from Lalo Schifrin to choose, but this might be my earliest favorite. #RIP

I think so. We need absurdist comedy now more than ever. Look back at the state of the country leading into the rise of the Zucker bros movies in the β€˜70s. People were stressed AF, like today.

A heist movie but it's Patti Lupone, Aubrey Plaza, and Miss Piggy. Miss Piggy is the only Muppet, and it's simply never mentioned. She has several human male suitors, including Pedro Pascal.

Every time Miss Piggy looks in the mirror her reflection is played by Jennifer Coolidge, again, never explained.

Saw Life of Chuck tonight. Very good, very interesting film. I’ll be thinking about it for a while. But absolutely loved Mark Hamill’s monologue about math. How it went from inspiring to a crushing blow. Great performance.

Same with my dad. And from Poirot he showed me The Lady Vanishes, which began my love for Hitchcock. And around the same time Twin Peaks was airing and we watched that together. Very fond memories.

I loved roaming free throughout the neighborhood and town as a kid. I wish my kids could do that now, but sadly it’s a different world.
