Made it just in time today to catch the last ever takeoff of a Martin Mars flying boat. Didn't even have time to play with camera settings.

In aviation we are all a family bonded by our mutual love of flying, and by our pride in getting others home to their families.
Yesterday was a hard day for our family and, though we hadn't met, I knew them, and I know they did their best, no matter what the DEI hire in chief claims.
Godspeed.

24.11.2024 07:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0To my understanding a 40 hour week puts them around 85k a year.
If someone is making 200k then some back of the envelope math tells me that work an extra 32 hours a week, or 72 hours a week total. Now it may be a bit less than this because that's just assuming time and a half
Yes, it's very physically demanding, dangerous to life and limb, and you have to work a lot of extra hours to earn at that level.
23.11.2024 20:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0During the dockworker strike I said that dockworkers making 200k now is like my not college educated father making 85 - 90k in the 90's... he was able to carve a life out, but it took it's pound of flesh out of him.
I got dragged for it but it was literally just math.
