A final post on the Union Street fire for now. Thanks to all the firefighters from the Scottish fire and Rescue Service who worked tirelessly late into the night to ensure the fire was as contained as possible.

Sad to see the Dome on the corner of Union street perish in the fire last night. It appeared in Stramash and the Crimson Devil a few times it hadn’t had neon advertising on it for decades but it was still a prominent view looking down the street.

Tension headache mounting.........

I fully anticipate that for the first week of August I will be mostly comatose recovering from the buildup of a decade of stress.

Absolutely sickening. The publication printing this shit should be shunned until they make amends.

I ❤️ Glasgow so I'm reposting this thread re the culture of the city (sex & chips). So, ages ago (when I didn't live here) I visited my daughter. We had dinner up at the bar near her pad. High excitement cos the barman, I swear to God, *winked* at me. Now I was 51 & (as you know) a serious novelist.

The banning of testosterone and estrogen for trans under-18s in NHS England, much like the banning of puberty blockers before it, is based on no actual health danger or reputable science, but entirely ideological, Wes Streeting hating whatever might make trans kids feel a little more safe and happy.

YouTube normally loves to show me multiple news outlet videos any time a Reform party member so much as farts, but there is nothing on my feed about the fire in Glasgow. If Piccadilly Gardens went up in flames, I expect I'd be seeing round-the-clock coverage and a panel of experts.

I mean this with utmost sincerity that many people (particularly organisations) do not appreciate the absolute value that Fucking About time has for productivity.

It's almost as if giving me time and space to do my job allows me to actually be productive, and having to rely on others who apparently don't understand what they're doing weighs me down like an anchor.

Weeks in which I have to ask other people to do things, I get stressed out. Because they don't do the fucking thing, or they do them wrong.

Weeks in which I have to tell people how to their fucking jobs, I get stressed out. Because I then have to solve their problems on top of my own.

Okay, I've definitely discovered something fairly major about my Dayjob and its impact on my stress levels, which is probably going to be obvious, but still -

Weeks in which I am given time to actually do my work instead of jumping from task to task, I get a lot of work done and I'm happier.

Accidentally touched the frying pan today, so that's an auspicious start to the week 👀

Glasgow feels really fucking bleak at the minute, lads. On top of the cultural vandalism of the past few weeks, a massive fire at Central has taken out a dozen businesses tonight, and will no doubt shut down the station for god knows how long.

I'm not prepared to actually see it with my own eyes, I don't think. Just horrendous.

It's going to be heartbreaking, another smouldering crater in the city. Just glad nobody seems to have been hurt. I hope it doesn't spread further.
