An old-timey comic, the spirit, in which the protagonist is frustrated at losing a game of pinball. He hits the pinball machine and yells "tilt!" along with an expletive.

I usually assume most internet slang comes from... well, the internet. memes from forums and such.

So it's funny to me that gamers still occasionally use the term "tilt" or "tilted" to mean "frustrated" or off their game. It's an old pinball term
