I had a colleague who loved his 1.5 hour commute for this exact reason…

Yep - I'm worried a week is not enough though. But Rice and Zubimendi both desperately need a rest. Saka too!

To be honest, I thought this was a significant improvement (control wise) over the chelsea match, but that could be due to the opposition. Arsenal look completely and totally fatigued.

Not exactly a visual feast, that match... it's like bringing back the 80s and 90s 'kick and rush' but with defending that's way too good.

Jeg har set tre trΓ₯de her til aften med (primΓ¦rt amerikanere, tror jeg) der skΓ¦ndes over om folk er for positive eller for negative. Jeg orker det ikke!

What privacy? Meta's smart glasses are filming unwitting naked people Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses are a privacy nightmare, with footage of naked people, sensitive information, and violent acts captured and seen by Meta's AI and an army of employees.

Buried lede: Meta sends all your nudes to Kenya where humans annotate it and feed it to AI

To be honest, yes. The problem becomes how we distinguish (poor) AI slop from real stuff - and what the paper of the future looks like. Too much stuff is published anyway (no one has time to read it all!)

more seriously I *do* think he's right that the consequences for academic publishing are dire

I need an immediate pause on AI related writings that use variations of β€˜ghost in the machine’. We need a new metaphor

A Green win must mean that "left behind" voters forgotten by Westminster want open borders and legalised class A drugs. That's how it works right?

Genuine question for any STS people out here: has anyone written about this from within STS/ANT? It seems to me there's a paper to be written on the principle of symmetry taken to an unfortunate extreme.

Me: YOU CAN'T JUST KEEP ADDING THE WORD 'LITERACY' ON TO THE END OF THINGS, AND ASSUMING THAT THIS IS THEN A PROBLEM FOR EDUCATORS TO SOLVE!

Them: that's impressive protest literacy

The idea that AI literacy will solve problems - such as β€˜AI Psychosis’ - drives me nuts!

If you are anywhere near in Vancouver, you really don't want to miss our event with Karen Hao about her brilliant book "Empire of AI" at the Chan Centre in a couple of weeks.

There are still a few tickets left, but they are going fast!

I think associate professor salaries start at around 80k euros (but tbf there is 17% pension on top of that)

25.02.2026 18:25 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Those salaries are also pretty good compared to other European university sectors…

SAM ALTMAN: β€œPeople talk about how much energy it takes to train an AI model … But it also takes a lot of energy to train a human. It takes like 20 years of life and all of the food you eat during that time before you get smart.”

When I'm in an unkind mood, I think about the fact that some of Arteta's formative years as a player were spent under Moyes. And with Marouane Fellaini.

Around 80% of AI stuff is absurd fluff pieces. There was a claim recently that they had neurons!
