Once common along KZN’s coast, sawfish like the Largetooth and Green Sawfish have vanished from our waters.

But on 19 Sept 2025, a sawfish - believed to be a Largetooth - was discovered off the Eastern Cape coast. The last confirmed sighting? 26 years ago.
