Yes, the figures in Holland seem more reflective of the weather / carbon intensity. That's what it should be.

Any idea what is going on? We had plenty of renewables today, gas power under 2 GW, a carbon intensity under 40g/kWh (both around the lowest ever), but the price remains stubbornly high. Any big outages? BritNed is down, but that is only 1 GW.

You can't uncouple the price of any good from its ingredients, and gas is the main (and critical) ingredient of electricity generation in the UK.

If you have a better one, you can make a lot of money. For now, they are the expectation in the market, and I can see why the futures are so high.

Actually, the futures are pretty dire for a year and a bit, and not great for two years out. This may not be over any time soon.

Except you don't - Agile has spiked a few times, but that is not the problem. The problem is that it is very expensive, and the price only very rarely comes down. We had many days with a lot of wind, and many days where the balancing mechanism got close to zero. But Agile stays stubbornly high.

Maybe. Something is certainly manipulating the market. But I think a lot of this is due to France / Germany buying our electricity.
