Our council is so dismissive (and often aggressive!) it has put people off reporting smoke nuisance. We need a campaign to change this. Everyone I have spoken to locally say the council are "useless" so there is no point in complaining, even if pollution levels are dangerously high.

We must all keep complaining! For all those 15000 complaints there will be numerous people who don’t think it is worth it. If there is a deluge they will have to do something! #AirPollution

β€œEcodesign” stoves, bonfires, charcoal BBQs and firepits are the main problem in cities now. They cause ~800 tonnes of PM2.5 in London every year. ULEZ savings are 23tonnes/year. A bonfire in a garden can cause similar PM2.5 levels in neighbours homes to wildfire smoke miles away.

To me it is as obvious as cigarettes being bad for you. It is clear that many people believe the wood stove industry’s propaganda and like cigarette smokers used to, they need science to convince them that wood smoke is bad for all of us.

Wildfire chemical toxic to humans lingers longer in clouds Researchers have discovered why a toxic compound found in wildfire smoke resists natural breakdown when dissolved in atmospheric water droplets.

Beyond wildfires, DNP is also produced by:
πŸ”₯ vehicle emissions from both biofuels and fossil fuels
πŸ”₯ residential heating fires and bonfires

Unfortunately β€œfossil fuels” have been demonised over the last few decades without educating people about why previous generations started using them, i.e. because wood burning is so filthy and inefficient. Alternative wording is required, such as β€œcarbon emitting fuels” to stop the confusion.
