Alberta children wait more than a year for important diagnoses due to physician and staff shortages.
It shouldn't be common in Alberta for a child to be forced to wait more than a year for a mental health and/or developmental care diagnosis. With the school year approaching, pediatrician recruitment, retention and support are required.

Physicians say they feel more valued by the health system and experience reduced stress following PCPM implementation.
The new Primary Care Physician Compensation Model (PCPCM) has already reached 1000 applicants. Physicians in Alberta are already feeling more supported in their practices. This is a hopeful step in stabilizing primary care practices in our province.
