We are attuned to the idea cold can kill but somehow still think we can just tough out heat without help. This is incorrect. Heat will kill just as surely as cold, and it will kill at shockingly low temperatures when humidity gets involved because your body cannot efficiently cool itself.

You and your family can die of heat exhaustion instead, then, Emma. Make no mistake - the temps + humidity the UK and Ireland have been reporting hit levels that are actively dangerous to human health, to the extent that they can kill. Realize that at 29C/85F with high humidity you can die.
