06.08.2025 17:26 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Photograph depicting a crappy cheap bolt of some unknown alloy that almost got a beautiful lesbian killed when it snapped in half when she was cycling down a hill, and the flawless replacement she cut from a 15cm long stainless steel bolt that will at least get her home tonight
Bet you couldn't even tell the bolt another bottom had 10cm cut off the end huh
Also behold my beautiful stainless steel
Absolutely ridiculous bolt tho, it's an M8ร45 but it was somehow made of such crappy material it snapped clean in half
Unfortunately it held my bike seat on so that flew off while I was trying to get to work
The new one is 304 stainless at least, it's not gonna go as easily lol
I always say "I'm not practially-minded" but then when a bolt in my bike got shorn in half, I cut a new one to length from one I found at work and filed a chamfer onto the end for a smooth fit
Only thing I couldn't replace was the spring washer so it's only a temporary replacement
So happy for you!!!

She doesn't seem nearly as thrilled as I would be to be sitting on a pint-sized dinosaur, but I suppose she misses her wide so I understand
Also cos I was photographing them both, here's Elster catching a ride on my stegadon lol

Photograph depicting a kitbashed "75mm" Elster miniature from Signalis. It's been extremely heavily customised from an entirely different mini to look as much like her as possible. Specifically the legs and chest plate in these images were modelled from milliputt, and had serious problems with rough surfaces and irregular shapes on account of me doing it entirely with my fingers and without vaseline to prevent fingerprinting and adhesion to my fingers. They have now been sanded down with fine-grit sandpaper, cleaned and repainted to provide a much better finish. Details can now be painted on top to show the ties etc.

A long-awaited but small update on my #signalis Elster diorama!
I didn't touch it for a few months bc I was pretty unhappy with the quality of my sculpting, I lacked both tools and experience
But I got some super fine-grit sandpaper and smoothed out my mistakes on the legs/chest and repainted!
Photograph depicting a classic metal stegadon, next to a classic metal skink priest, a unit of kroxigor and a unit of aggradon riders from Warhammer. The classic models are from the old warhammer fantasy range, the others are from Age of Sigmar. The fully painted riders, kroxigor and skink are teal/green, with more vibrant green on the smaller, softer skink and more blue-green on the larger, heavily armoured kroxigor. The kitbashed skirts of the stegadon are teal, to match the scheme of the other seraphim, on account of being otherwise albino
As a little add-on, I posed her next to my other finished seraphim minis!

Update on my classic stegadon!
Still really pleased with the albino skin, but I also made good progress on the fabric and the framework on the back!
Lots to do, but the animal itself is nearly finished! I think the base will try to look ornate without much ruin, but that's still to be decided!

NPS personnel appear to be using a recoilless rifle to attack a massive creature barrelling down the side of a snowy mountain like an avalanche. A second recoilless rifle, mounted on a car, is about to be devoured by its gaping maw.
In the 1950s, the US National Park Service acquired M27 recoilless rifles from the military.
Their stated use was to trigger controlled avalanches, but a recent analysis of ammunition purchases shows they used many times more rounds than necessary.
The NPS was hunting something.

My own impression of replika manufacture would consist of mass-produced chassis, with...
Yeah I'm 100% in the "mostly mechanical" camp too. I would venture the limbs and torso are almost entirely mechanical, with even the brain not being 100% organic.
That said tho, to explain how they can react with human speed I would imagine they have an organic nervous system embedded throughout...
