While the extremes hold somewhat more radical views, a large majority still oppose political violence, regardless of their political stance.

Given the recent developments south of our border, I examined data from the newly released 2024 American National Study to find some reassurance. In 2024, most Americans opposed political violence. I hope this hasn't shifted in light of recent events. 🧵

OK, so curious what @patricksturg.bsky.social thinks of this. In the raw F2F @britishelectionstudy.com from 2024, the raw (unweighted) vote share is 44% Labour, 20% Conservatives. This seems a big over-statement of the actual lead?

Bonne question! On devrait au moins espérer que les éléments les plus substantiels des discours soient dans les deux langues officielles. Perso, je trouvais que les éléments plus substantiels étaient surtout en anglais. Peut-être on cherchait aussi à envoyer un message clair aux Américains.

I show misalignment btwn Black Americans’ expressed partisan & ideological identities (red line below) stems from unfamiliarity w/ terms “liberal” & “conservative,” making the standard, oft-used lib-con measure invalid for this population.

How did different racial/ethnic groups move over the course of the campaign?
