Francisco Goya’s painting “Saturn Devouring His Son” (c1820-1823). Set against an inky black background, it depicts the giant, wildly dishevelled god/titan Saturn, naked and with long, grey hair and beard, in the process of eating a smaller, but nonetheless adult-proportioned, corpse, its head and right arm missing.
According to legend, Saturn tried to systematically devour his offspring to prevent a prophecy that one of them would overthrow him.

I’m a little late to the party—so to speak—but I’d like to extend goodwill to you all for the holiday season. #Saturnalia #Goya #Saturn

"Why do they need a science fiction writer at the hospital?"
"Look, if they NEED a science fiction writer at the hospital, then shit has gotten REALLY weird, I must depart"

A poem by Langston Hughes titled "Tired". It reads as the following:
"I am so tired of waiting,
Aren't you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two --
And see what worms are eating
At the rind."
I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

An illustration of several giants from Dungeons and Dragons, comparing their heights.
An oddly specific table comparing fictional D&D humanoids, including giants, to the size of miniatures needed to represent them.
A funny little illustration from Dragon Magazine 31, comparing the heights of various D&D giants.
Check out the wee little 10ft tall hill giant.
The article included this oddly specific table detailing how tall a miniature needs to be to adequately represent various types of giants.

In DCC, a backstab with a dagger does 1d10 damage, IIRC, and scores an instant critical hit.

I used to work shifts on a 24h/12wk rotation, so we're both used to me being up at odd hours, which helps since most of my games are in US or European timezones. (A couple are still local to Australia, though.)
I don't recommend it for anyone used to regular sleep, but it does expand my options.

For years, work commitments restricted me to playing at maybe one con annually, so this sort of makes up for it.
And I’m pretty much retired now, so the time out stops my wife from killing me. 😉

It’s all online (at least for the moment), which makes a difference—I’ve been travelling for over a year, and before that, lived in a town literally hours from anything to do. I don’t watch much TV, so it’s my main form of entertainment/socialising.

All - Bluesky Directory
A curated collection of all things relating to the Blue Sky social media platform.
Starter packs are genius, but I was surprised there wasn't a list of them for people to find.
So I built it:
blueskydirectory.com/starter-pack...
The website monitors the packs being shared and adds the ones it finds to the database.
Missed your stater pack? Message me and I'll get it added.

Most of the folks visiting here will be TTRPG enthusiasts, so in lieu of an intro until I can get one done, here's what I play fortnightly:
Call of Cthulhu 7e
DCC
D&D 5e
OSE
The One Ring 2e
Unknown Armies 2e
And monthly:
Monster of the Week
Traveller (Classic)
Plus a whole heap of one-shots.
