The NWS mission is to protect life and property and NWS employees are some of the most dedicated and hard working federal employees (literally - it’s documented). To anyone who said people were overreacting or causing unnecessary panic trying to warn about this, I have many four letter words.

Today, many NWS probationary employees were given notice that they were let go due to performance issues (none were documented or corroborated by supervisors). This will have very negative impacts as the weather grows more extreme.
