Yes the practices which led to situations like this, where children are being re-trafficked, started with the last government, but they are continuing under this. They have the power to override local authorities on this, and instead they just shrug

The same btw has been seen with Labour's curtailment of family reunification routes. It leads to the same, inevitable, outcome of children being put at more risk. Politicians have become so obsessed with the idea of "reducing the number of people seeking asylum" they stop caring about even children.

When children going missing from Home Office and local authority care was flagged couple of years back #r4today presenters uncritically repeated claims children were "voluntarily trafficked". It was an angle used by politicians, and still the idea of protecting kids is dismissed as a "pull factor"

This is what happens when you house children on their own in hotels, rather than providing them with proper care. That more children then went missing from reception centres after the High Court banned them being housed in hotels is appalling.
