I am a 1994 Honda Acty named Toki. I am one of a group of mini vehicles known as kei (rhymes with hey) vehicles. I am 4WD, get 50mpg, always find parking spots, and my bed is the same length as a full-size pickup. My insurance is cheap and I cost $6,500 from local importer Motorcycle Warehouse in 2022. In 2024, the Oregon DMV took away my registration because I was “not manufactured for on-road use in the U.S.” This year, Senator Boardman from Bend introduced bipartisan legislation that would legalize kei trucks. While it did not pass before the session ended, I and many other kei-truck-lovers/owners hope it is a real first step toward legalization. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS TO LEGALIZE KEI VEHICLES. #FreeToki Also, a map of which states have legalized Kei vehicles.
