16.11.2025 20:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Kudos to all involved in improving open data feeds for OCTranspo.
Bus Buddy now shows cancelled trips and better information about buses that have not yet departed.
Since this is a significant work load removed from OPS, why do they still need more in the budget?
16.11.2025 16:44 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I've filtered Ottawa's traffic collision data to show only collisions with injuries for each year, and then added the speed camera locations present in those years.
It looks like speed cameras have made the roads much safer.
WATCH: Seriously, if youโre following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually canโt make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.
Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Doug has said you need to provide data to keep bike lanes, why don't you need data to take away speed cams?

There are two speed cameras on Walkley Rd between Bank and St Laurent that were installed in 2024. In 2022 that stretch of Walkley had 34 collisions with injuries. In 2024, after the cameras were turned on, there were just 4 collisions with injuries. Speed cameras work.

When Transit becomes ubiquitous, people will drop their cars. It's been shown over and over and over and over again.
So let's get as close as we can.

That's why he's putting up transit fares, because those that can't afford a car should pay there share.

14.11.2025 17:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Today marks the end of the Automated Speed Enforcement camera program across Ontario. For anyone concerned about the impact of speeding on the safety of vulnerable road users, and who believes in data-based decision-making, this day is filled with frustration, disappointment, and deep concern. 1/

For taxpayers, every piece of cycling infrastructure is a gift that keeps on giving.
An asset that returns annual savings in congestion, pollution, maintenance, safety and healthcare over its lifetime.
Stop asking whether your city can afford to invest in cycling. Ask whether it can afford not to.

The Mayor will release his draft budget today. We know there's money for Lansdowne, but how will the budget affect people who rely on more important city services?

OSEG have not made a profit in 2.0 and claim they need another $400 million to fix critical mistakes in 2.0, such as not putting a roof over the stand.
This goal will be shown around the world.

09.11.2025 17:01 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Itโs kind of crazy that improvements to the 6 and 7 were barely discussed during the Lansdowne 2.0 vote
youtu.be/wtWHri5lShA?...
Itโs a predictable pattern. Suburban and rural (mainly) voted to spend more, get less, align themselves with private interest to fund a project that doesnโt affect them, delivering lower value at the expense of urban quality of life and wrecking womenโs pro hockey in the capital.
08.11.2025 17:39 โ ๐ 50 ๐ 19 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0Tremendous to hear some veteran Ottawa city councillors argue that Lansdowne 2.0 is needed because the previous overhaul that they voted for is crap.

No, a 60km tunnel under highway 401 isnโt feasible.
In fact, itโs colossally stupid.
Itโs possible that itโs all a distraction from the failure to properly invest in public transit.

This morning's rally at City Hall / Le rassemblement de ce matin ร l'hรดtel de ville
Lansdowne 2.0 is not what residents are telling us we need as a city. The cost is too much, the outcome too inadequate and uncertain, and the benefits accrue to too few. This morning's rally was energizing. We have an off-ramp; we should take it.

I am buoyed by the community who stood in the cold to say they donโt support Lansdowne 2.0. Ottawa deserves better, and so do womenโs hockey fans. There is no stadium emergency. This plan is built on financial fiction and my grandkids will still be paying for it. I will vote no with my whole heart.
