Just watching the video made me really realize like oh I don't do stuff like this and I'm not even like... interested in doing this, even though this book and its ideas do interest me.

I enjoy writing high tension and high stakes. Even though I do enjoy a fantastical setting, and even though I do try to "say something" here and there, that's what's on offer all the time. I would say I do exploration more than allegory. But I do respect and admire good allegory.

Second, I am a pulp writer, I'm not this type of speculative fiction writer. I'm really interested in this book and will probably read it but my instincts are not towards like... building an allegory into a sci-fi catastrophe. I never think of doing shit like that. And it's cool, it's just not me.

Like, if you write "ideatic" in English, I assume you mean it to be pronounced "eye-dee-ah-tic" or something similar, not "ai-det-ic" (eidetic). But idea-tic and eide-tic are functionally equivalent, the two words mean exactly the same thing. So it's like... not right but also not wrong.

I just watched Quinn's Ideas new video on There Is No Antimemetics Division, great video, seems like an interesting book. I had two thoughts. First, the book seems to use the word "ideatic" but Quinn always pronounces it "eidetic" and it's interesting to me that they are the same word but not.
