I didn't even think about this last night, but the Jazz took the short hop from Houston to San Antonio after the loss to the Rockets.

The start of the regular season always feels like Christmas to me.

In contrast, the start of preseason feels like Christmas Eve, when we were allowed to open one gift, but it was always the new pajamas.

It was still fun to open something, but it wasn't the best stuff.

It's that time again!

It's the first flight of the (pre)season, as the Utah Jazz fly to Houston for tomorrow's game against the Rockets.

I'm not any of those people, but it's an Exhibit 10 deal. *Most* players who sign those get waived, then join the team's G-League affiliate, so that's the most likely outcome. He could have a chance to make the squad if another player is waived or traded.

If he doesn't get an offer, the Jazz could still waive him without a buyout, or they could open the season with him on the roster.

If he remains on the roster, does he come to camp? Or do they let him stay home pending a later buyout or trade?

Barring a larger, roster-altering move, there's one decision left: what to do with Kevin Love.

If a decent team had offered him a minimum contract, he'd already be gone, so apparently that hasn't happened. Could still happen this week.

Yeah, Love doesn't bring that alone at this point. Some chance if they send him out & take care of a salary/tax/apron problem for someone, but the longer it goes on, it gets more & more unlikely.

KJ will most likely be gone. Sarah said as much last week. It just makes sense to hang on to him just in case he could be useful in a trade.

I may or may not have been making fake trades with Love & Springer last night, since him sitting was a surprise move.

I think they'll both be gone. But I thought Svi would be waived as well, so what do I know?

Kyle Filipkowski spinning to the hoop for his 29th & 30th points just earned my first loud clap of the game.

(Loud claps are relatively rare in July.)

I'm still skeptical about him lasting past July 25, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I've personally seen enough.

I'm sure it lost some, although my personal bias is that nobody can project the value of a pick 7 years out. That's more than an eternity in this league. Who knows if the Magic or any other team will be having an up year or down year in 2032?

I wonder if Orlando has another move up their sleeve. Their 2032 pick will be tradeable at the end of the month. Could they combine that with someone on the roster to improve even more?

Depends on what "worked out" means.

Minnesota sent out 4 for Gobert & has been to 2 WCF.
New York sent out 5 for Bridges & went to the ECF.

Those players weren't the only factors, but they were final four teams in the NBA.

I've had a few exceptions on the guy side, but this strikes a chord with me. I've had tons of friends, male & female, and I value both, but I've always found it easier to fall into a friendship with women, as far back as high school. My list of work wives over the years is lengthy.

I use you as a reference when I see people say "the league will never allow the Jazz to have the first pick." There are real conspiracies in the world, but if this were one, they wouldn't invite an accounting firm to run it & all the impacted teams & media into the room.

My family went FB official with our family's situation last night, so I thought I'd share with my community here as well. If you're wondering why Dan & I have been almost invisible on the socials for the last 10 days, this is why.

Everything above is correct about splitting the assigned lottery combinations, which would be unnecessary since each club would already have 140.

The additional bit is that someone would still have to be pre-lotto #1 & someone #2, in case neither is in the top 4. That tie is broken via coin flip.
