Yesterday I hosted a lunch with @cfr.org to talk about trade, Ukraine, defence, energy, visas, and why I'm confident the EU-US partnership will endure. Our strong ties are necessary for business to thrive, and a strong economy allows us to tackle the challenges we face.

At the @cnas.bsky.social National Security Conference. Europeans are already No. 1 customers of the US defence industry (35%) — their most important market. Clearly, there is no "Fortress Europe." In fact the EU must develop its own security architecture to bolster transatlantic collaboration.

1. Increase access to computing capacity by building additional supercomputers.
2. Improve access to finance for startups.
3. Encourage all sectors in Europe to use AI.
4. Simplify EU rules.
5. Continue to invest in skills, high-quality connectivity, and improved access to data.

It was great to meet AU Ambassador Hilda Suka-Mafudze following the EU-African Union Ministerial in Brussels last week. Together, our unions working toward a more peaceful and sustainable world.

What a wonderful treat to host local students at the Delegation as part of the Embassy Adoption Program. Their curiosity about Europe shows they are already thinking like global citizens, and we need more of that! Through their studies, they are building a bridge between our two continents. 🌉🇪🇺

Great meeting with the Global Business Alliance, which promotes an open economy & welcomes international companies to invest in the US. Naturally, we discussed current transatlantic economic and diplomatic issues that are affecting businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. Good to stay in touch.

Successful startups drive innovation and sustainable growth, creating high-quality jobs, attracting investment, and reducing dependencies. Stronger businesses make for a stronger Europe.

Another step toward #Readiness2030. We are that much closer toward helping Member States ramp up investments in key defence areas like air missile defence, drones, or strategic enablers. #ReArmEurope.

Trade was the topic du jour while in Cincinnati yesterday. Both in a GWU webinar and at the EACC gala, I emphasized: The impact of tariffs will be felt acutely at the state and local levels. EU-Ohio ties are building blocks of our shared prosperity. Let's keep it that way.

Good meeting with Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (+ pup Dolly). I appreciate his support for Ukraine, given Ohio's large Ukrainian diaspora. I also noted his concern over tariffs. The EU wants to avoid disruptions to our economies — Ohio exports over $12 billion annually to the EU. We want to work together.

A pleasure to meet Oklahoma Governor Stitt last night. The EU has invested $22 billion in Oklahoma and received almost $3 billion in goods/services exports from the state. The EU wants a negotiated trade solution that protects and and further develops this partnership for decades to come.

Hard to believe that over 3,000 people experienced our #EUOpenHouse today. This beautifully demonstrates a deep love of Europe and everything it offers to our American friends. Thank you for celebrating with us!

75 years of the European Union. What an achievement for the European leaders who saw a better future for this continent than war and tragedy. I am so honoured to lead the EU Delegation to the US at this milestone, when strong EU-US relations have never been more important. Happy #EuropeDay to all!

What a great way to kick off the next several days of Europe Week, including Europe Day and culminating in our annual #EUOpenHouse. The bonds between Europeans and Americans remain strong. And that is a great reason for celebration!

Through their work in the policymaking, journalism, and energy fields, these honorees have each championed a strong transatlantic relationship in powerful ways. I am grateful to have their support as the EU embarks on its next 75 years.

The Transatlantic Bridge Awards embody everything great about the EU-US relationship: Americans and Europeans united in defense of freedom when the need has never been greater. Congratulations to our 2025 awardees: Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Rep. Nathaniel Moran, Margaret Brennan, and Fred Hutchison!

With #VEDay, we celebrate 40 years since President Ronald Reagan’s speech at @europarl.europa.eu, when he shared his belief in the United States as a global leader and partner for the democracies of Europe. That a stronger EU meant a stronger United States and vice versa. We remember.

80 years ago, the end of World War II changed Europe forever. Europeans are grateful to the American soldiers who helped bring an end to this terrible era. From these ashes, political leaders said "never again" and in 1950, announced plans for what would become the EU. #VEDay

Special meeting of the EU Ambassadors, with participation from Ukraine, Norway, Switzerland, and Lichtenstein. We heard from @oksanamarkarova.bsky.social the latest on Russia’s war against her country, including possible pathways to peace. There can be no solution without Ukraine’s inclusion.

Great meeting Gov. Ned Lamont while visiting Connecticut, one of the nation’s most highly educated, highly productive workforces. We are aligned in many ways: energy, education, healthcare, Ukraine — plus the 63K jobs supported by EU investment. May our ties continue to flourish!

Congratulations to all the teams, but especially to the winning school, Saint Peter’s Prep from New Jersey! Researching complex topics and presenting in front of experts is good life training. Thank you for championing the importance of a strong EU-US relationship.
