Coming right up: a course about how liberals are out of touch elitists, and overpaid underqualified pundits represent the real people, who they kind of remember seeing from a distance when they were kids

The Case for War, by Someone Whose Kids Won’t Die Fighting in It β€œThe next days will be decisive. The best course for the United States is to spell out clearly to Iran what the paths of escalation β€” and de-escala...

"As someone whose kids won’t die fighting in the war, it’s important that you understand the flimsy, morally bankrupt justifications for war, and why it’s vital for you to throw more of your children's lives at this one."

Just a reminder that Trump didn't just bumble us into an unnecessary war -- he deliberately created the conditions that he's now screaming about

Freedom IS free. Policing the exercise of freedom is expensive

It’s rarely remarked on in any depth, but the ivies have produced a lot of toxic people.

The whole post is lunacy

"miss do you have any light reading?"
"well we have this leaflet on jewish sport heroes"

In the movie Airplane it's a leaflet

Say! This idea of having "allies" seems like it might work! Ya think?

I haven't read Jone's book but Saidiya HArtman's "Lose your Mother" was a big influence

When do I get my refund for the illegal tariffs?

We have lots of shared interests! I got into the Irish thing after avoiding it for years because of reactionary Irish American politics

Also my father, now 90, would not have leeringly referred to how a woman looked in a job recommendation. It's unseemly, it's degrading to the person. It's not some timeless universal male attribute, except maybe for assholes

Most of my professional work is about "denaturalizing" things that seem inevitable and natural: the idea of race, gender roles, "the economy;" the construction of family, the role of clock time. It's been a consistent thread for 30 years.

I think most of my interest in history lies in the effort to "denaturalize" the present. It's always about showing contingency and how "natural" is constructed

He feared for his life, so I guess it's all good for the out of uniform chief to put a high school kid in a choke hole for saying stuff he didn't like

By "overcome" you mean "being allowed to cheat."

Basically admitting that he pockets the revenue from tariffs

Same column he always writes! He gets paid a huge amount of money to say the same thing, over and over. Fake populist fraud

These dumb arguments keep appearing when CBS has become state media and the FCC is actively censoring political speech and ICE is arresting people for saying mean things.

I mean it's kind of a self-dramatizing comment, and the historical experiences aren't identical, but I speak English for the same reason the modern Cherokee speak English
