The officers were wearing body-worn cameras but did not have them activated. BWC automatically records footage anyway (without audio). Normally only the first minute prior to activation is saved but in this instance authorities were able to recover footage of the entire incident.

White prison guards at Marcy Prison in upstate NY killed Robert Brooks (incarcerated in a nearby prison) while other guards & a nurse looked on on December 10.

Video released today shows them kicking, punching & choking him while he is cuffed & shackled, blooded & unresponsive.

An element of the H1B and E3 is that the employer has to show they are paying at or higher than the prevailing wage. I don't understand this argument.

Australia is a country of 25 million people. The visa quota is never filled (maybe 3,000 are issued every year) but it has a 90% + approval rate.

The E3 was a thank you to Australia for participating in the Iraq war (signed into law 2005). It's almost identical to the H1B but better. The H1B is valid for 3 years and renewable once. The E3 is valid for 2 but renewable indefinitely. The H1B also costs employers thousands $$$. The E3 is free.

Didn't see any New York Post articles about the judge in the Chanel Lewis murder trial who repeatedly wore purple in apparent solidarity with the family of Karina Vetrano's family who also wore it every day of his trial (it being her favorite color).

(And of course a person shouldn't have to plead guilty at arraignment on a low level offense but if it is a jurisdiction where bail will be set and they will be held in jail, I mean this is how the system criminalizes poverty.)

Otherwise a person always pleads not guilty (as Luigi Mangione did today). That should never be the headline.

The idea you would plead guilty on a murder charge at an arraignment is crazy.

The purpose of an arraignment is to decide whether a person will be held in jail pending trial, released, or if bail will be set (in jurisdictions that have it).

The only time a person pleads guilty at arraignment is on a misdemeanor/infraction (if it will get them out before the next court date).

Biden commutes most federal death sentences before Trump takes office President Joe Biden changed the sentences of 37 of the 40 inmates on death row to life without parole, saying he was convinced “that we must stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level.”

This shouldn't be a controversial take but Biden should have commuted the sentences of everyone on death row, even those there for the most despicable crimes.

The state executing anyone, even Dylann Roof, diminishes the humanity of all of us.
