There’s a little bit of cloud magic this morning

Another massive melodramatic sky this evening as the flood had receded enough for us to go out. When we returned as darkness fell, we saw the sharpened Ramadan sliver of moon & Orion, bedecked with jewels, above the house.

I like the name change but I still miss the upstanding gentolman fellow.

Last night in the wild wind & downpour, this little desert house was a ship on formidable seas — its cantilevered roof a catamaran immersed in the fierce sky — all night creaking & moaning. In today’s bright light we are cozily marooned by floodwaters, cut off from the mainland of the highway.

Having this as the view on my morning run from our desert outpost makes it more than worthwhile to have to work via Zoom all day. The camera rarely captures just how the mountain dominates this place.

I think one of our big problems is that we’re limiting Dickensian villain ghost visits to just one night a year like clearly the market can sustain some expansion

Dreadful news. I've been watching him slow down and hoping for the best. Alas I will now change that to hoping you will find sufficent peace and comfort in the lovely memories he left you, John. You enjoyed the pleasure of his company and it was great indeed.

America has lost a titan in the struggle for civil rights and racial justice. From his days at the side of Dr. King, to his moral leadership in this century, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. spent his life pushing our nation closer to its own ideal.

I attended one of his rallies in 1988 during his run for President. I supported him for many reasons but I will always remember that he was the only candidate questioning our actions in Central America. Rest well, Reverand, you have more than earned a lasting peace.
