I liked this tutorial using drivers! It's mostly used to driving face texture animation but the principle can be applied to whatever you might need hopefully

there is a method to my madness that I don't even understand hehe thank youuuuu!!!

you probs already know of this but blender comes with rigify that creates some pretty effective rigs with the automatic weights, obv need to do weight painting for more polish but the stuff it gives out the box is pretty good already!

Ability Name: Lunatic Scythe Horn grows when angry or agitated (Huey as a black wolf with a piercing light coming from his forehead) Max power horn! (it looks like a crescent moon) Low power horn(basically a flat star pattern)

Ability Name: Soul's Mirage Xin as a white fox, he has one real tail and can have up to eight fake tails. Glows iridescently while using his powers! His eyes and fur dim when at rest...

Wolf Huey and Fox Xin! Lunatic Scythe already showed up in the comic briefly but wanted to explore it a bit more here :3
