Happy Earth Day from St. George Island, Gulf of Mexico. Years ago, as an Explorer Scout in Menomonie, Wisconsin, I invited Gaylord Nelson, the father of Earth Day, to share his vision for a healthy Earth. He talked about growing up in Wisconsin and all he learned from his time in the woods.

Concerns about the USA sliding into authoritarianism. The withdrawal from the world by cutting support for those who face starvation. The disruption of the constitutional order. The deportation of people without due process. The retreat from climate action and withdrawal of environmental protection.

The DOGE algorithm idiocy continues! Just one example: a photo of the Enola Gay aircraft (which carried the atomic bomb to Japan) was deleted from the DOD's website because it had the word "gay" in the title. This is government efficiency at its best!

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.
