It's so not happening, in fact, that Republicans in Oregon took footage from two South American countries to create a hoax photo about Portland.

They have no actual violent footage to put forward.

👏👏👏 I wonder if the 1st TRO was viewed as limiting the POTUS authority to mobilize the NG for domestic unrest, while the 2nd TRO was more specific that the “facts on the ground in Portland” do not meet the threshold for domestic unrest so NG cannot be sent to the city of Portland? Just curious. 👍

They get certain protections from eviction or non-payment of loans/ bills while deployed 90 days or more, and for a period of time afterwards.

I’m not going to say “100% yes”, but typically orders are paid by non-shutdown budgets.
Plus the NG is supplemented by State budgets.
It’s complicated by design.

🤔 If they volunteered, I wouldn’t automatically assume it’s because they support the mission. They may desperately need the money and benefits for their families. Plus they can’t be fired/ laid-off while deployed. Voluntary or otherwise. 🙈

This is the absolute worst timeline.
This misuse of NG troops is beyond heartbreaking. Stealing all the goodwill they’ve earned in local disaster-relief and wartime service.
