I went with Solaray, just based on them appearing to be a trustworthy brand in general.

How about being rude to a British TERF with bad opinions?

Trump's habit of threatening to lock up his political enemies means that a man who already has a blanket pardon from a previous president is the *only* viable candidate to run against him

I need a Bluesky option that blocks someone starting X hours from now. When someone obnoxious is feuding with someone I follow, I want to see how that plays out but I also want to remember to block them later so I'm not at risk of interacting with them.

Idea for fictional post-truth dystopia: Have obvious Presidential body doubles show up at official photo ops. Everybody sees it but pretends it's not happening. Sometimes dear leader is spotted in multiple cities at the same time.

Back in the 2010s, a game developer I know used to participate in NaNoGenMo (nanogenmo.github.io) by adapting the procedural generation techniques he used for level design. Doing that for outlining and an LLM to flesh out the details seems like it should be able to produce a passable novel.

A breakthrough that dramatically increased lifespan would fall into the worrisome category for me, but I don't think there's any danger of a pill that stops entropy. Life extension will happen one small improvement at a time.

This is why, in the base case, I'm not worried "only rich people will have access" to new tech. I worry if there are particularly bad short term consequences of that, or about dynasties locking in their position, but much of the time I'm just happy it'll be accessible to all in a generation or two.

I was disappointed in it because it was directed by the same guy as GATTACA so I expected it to be as good as GATTACA but it was just ok

New variation on the classic "attractive women with a caption that encourages political venting" engagement bait which makes me wonder how many thousands of extra paragraphs of misogyny have been posted just so they can pretend they're not looking at these videos for the obvious reason.

Please don't take your github down, it's the kind of super niche projects that are a delight to find.

Me: Ah yes - Ive been meaning to correct you on this. Words actually mean what they sound like

I like this strategy of just insisting on the obvious meaning, I think it's worth a try.

I'm seeing a lot of arguments like "You clearly don't understand how submarines work. They only *imitate* swimming. They use something called a propeller, which you'd know is different than legs if you were really as technically savvy as you claim. Idiot. Shill.
Anyway, that's why they're useless"

*if* Oraul believed that (which I haven't seen them say) I still don't see the problem with hoping that better hardware for running LLMs makes it out of the demo/prototype stage.

Low angle shot of Ai Weiwei sunflower seeds exhibit at the Tate Modern. Looks pretty surreal, with a carpet of ceramic sunflower seeds and blurry people in the background.

True story, the screenwriter of Face/Off tried to sell a script called Fast/ /Track and thought it was really clever that the slashes made a little road.
So what I'm saying it the title should be something like
))Ass Off((

I was going to reply with that picture of just a human nervous system w/eyes but it's a little too freaky looking to spring on someone without warning.

Space elevator supermaterial just needs super high tensile strength right? So maybe it sucks for body armor. Long fibers that aren't particularly well bonded to their neighbors, easily pierced by narrow projectiles.
Much like how kevlar doesn't protect you from getting stabbed with a knife.

ok my new theory is that they're going for "I read Playboy for the articles" plausible deniability. They don't even need people to actually watch their in-house programming, they just want it to be widely known that there's something besides porn on their site.

I want to print out my gym card barcode so I gave o3 a photo and asked what barcode format it was. It fixed the contrast, wrote python code to analyze the image, then checked its answer by noticing in fine print it's a climbing gym and looking up the documentation for their gym management software 🤯
