Rainier Ave has some of Seattle’s highest crash and speeding rates and local youth are organizing about it.

The Rainier Youth Committee is hosting a β€œShaping Our Streets” listening session this Saturday on transit reliability and pedestrian safety. Love seeing young people lead on safer streets.

It was 34 degrees and sleeting but 16 people turned out to discuss making safe and accessible streets in Green Lake and Wallingford! Excited to see what they do next.

If you missed it, their next meeting is March 24th, Jellyfish Brewing in Green Lake at 6pm. Or go to seattlegreenways.org/volunteer

Denny Way without cars.

Walking, biking, and transit got a million people downtown yesterday but let’s fill the streets with cars again and pretend it never happened.

"The Study's recommended configuration: One bus lane and one vehicle lane in each direction, plus dedicated space for people walking, rolling and biking. This balances multiple needs while prioritizing what works best for the most people."

"Few opportunities in the levy are greater than on Rainier Ave, where repaving, safety work, and transit upgrades...all converge, especially around Judkins Park Station...the road remains incredibly dangerous...even as it welcomes thousands of additional neighbors via significant housing growth."

Yay, glad to see this finally announced publicly! The Burke Gilman is our state’s most popular trail and it should be comfortable, safe, and accessible for all. If it were a highway we would already have widened it. The design next to UW Medical should be the standard (with the addition of lighting)

HOME ZONE: we updated N Greenwood Ave and N 95th St to make it easier to cross the street and prevent cut-through traffic. This project was funded by the Seattle Transportation Levy, built by SDOT crews, and based on crash data and resident input from the Aurora-Licton Urban Village Home Zone.
