I think one of the advantages is that it is a good way to learn about some aspects of the Arduino (if you want to) or just go straight to setting it up as a beacon or whatever using RFZero manager. It is simple to change parameters to your own requirements.

I hope that explained it?
Bo and the gang are extremely helpful to those wanting to set up an RFZero based beacon.

There are a lot of RFZero based beacons around the world now!

Best Google it, Simon. Lots of information and explained far better than I could manage

This week’s project is working with my newly acquired RFZero to create a replacement 24GHz beacon for Martlesham (or Felixstowe).

One poor soul collapsed at the finish. Medical help was immediately at hand. In 14000 riders it was the only med emergency seen. Pretty fit riders.

Thanks to everyone who donated/supported her. She completed in 5hr 30min. Total of 54 miles.
Her funding stood at Β£500 and then there was a small flurry of additional sponsorship after John posted.
It’s still not too late to add some more to a very worthwhile cause. British Heart Foundation.

Sat on Brighton sea front, drinking coffee and waiting for my daughter to complete the London to Brighton cycle ride ( For the British Heart Foundation).

Got mine as well. 23cm EME. The long way round!

Sadly, not a patch in what it used to be.
Great opportunity to meet β€˜old’ friends, though, so worth the long trek over.

Looks like I should keep the 23cm EME feed in the dish for several more days as G4RFR may be QRV on Wednesday.

Showing how marginal it was, it took three days to work HD8G on 23cm EME. As the moon moved closer, so degradation came down just enough to complete. My thanks to Bruce for persevering.

Good to see you today and have the 803 described in such detail. Thanks Peter.

Worse than that, I have the 3cm EME transverter back on the bench and just completing the missing sequencer bit.......

13cm EME QSO with DL3WDG today. Used Q65 60C initially, followed by 30B. The faster 30B was about 1dB worse on our QSO.

And a CW QSO today with G3LTF on 13cm EME. Last worked on 13cm EME in 2009!

Two new # on 13cm EME yesterday. Third failed half way through (report but no Rs or 73)due to QSO partner equipment fault.
More tests today.

I think that is just my poor photograph. He doesn’t actually have any scars, although he is overweight!
Otherwise he seems very healthy. I guess regular meals, warm house and not having to fight has made him lazy.
I’m not sure he will ever be a lap cat, but I can hope.

WSJT-X echo mode on 13cm quite good, but at -17dB (JT Echo) just audible on headphones.

Joined by the second one. More friendly but also still a bit nervous of humans.
Bobby and Phylis, β€˜The Railway Children’. They were rescued from near the main railway line!

One of our two rescue cats. This one still extremely nervous of human contact. Whatever happened to him?

My 13cm EME feed and VLNA back in the dish. Excellent echoes this morning. 250W (in shack) and 0.3dB nf.
Looking to increase my 13cm # count next weekend.

01.03.2025 11:08 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The echoes measured very much the same level as at 1296.100 MHz.
The receive port return loss is slightly better at 1298.1 compared to 1296 MHz. Not enough to be that significant, I suspect.
No worries, as our Aussie relatives would say!

Good 23cm EME echoes this evening. Trying 1298.100 MHz to see how well the system works at the higher frequency. I noticed a few more people on the HB9Q chat also mentioning doing test transmission/QSOs at what might become the new, preferred, 23cm EME allocation.
