Huge Star Trek shot update! Fixed all sorts of issues, added some cool VFX to the scrubbing action, and fixed the lighting angles. High-sample render, working on the SFX now! Enjoy, and suggestions are welcome!

if i had to pick The Most Star Wars scene in all of Star Wars, it's the imperial officers meeting in the death star in a new hope
a bunch of military guys are talking about politics, and also a wizard is there
that's it that's the franchise

i still like buffy and firefly, like i recognize they have huge problems and cringe shit but it's television in a shape my brain really likes. but that's not what's being made anymore and that won't be what this is, it's impossible, that kind of TV requires a *lack* of reverence for itself

and on top of all that... Serenity was a genuinely very good end to the series that answered a bunch of pressing questions and implied a huge turning point, you don't need to do anything more after that
so like... why?!?

beyond that... Andor did the underdog-against-empire sci-fi story so good there's no point trying for a few years, space western isn't nearly as novel, and we like our crime stories grittier now
like, even the fact it was relatively hard sci-fi on television... we've had The Expanse since then?

yeah firefly is very much carried by the fact that a good cast was working with material beings made by The Whedon-Adjacent Writing Team at peak performance but those guys were so influential that we've passed through a period of everything sounding like that, into a world where everyone hates it

Jennifer would not say she was lost, exactly. She knew exactly where she was; a nondescript length of concrete hallway deep under the ground. The only issue was she had no idea how sheβd gotten there, or how it connected to anything else.
βThis is so stupid. I bet other schools only have like, one or two underground complexes, at most. And a crypt, of course. Gotta have a crypt. Where the hell did they go? Probably forgot what they were doing and are off quoting things in stupid British accents again. Ooh, Iβve got a floppy disc in my brain filled entirely with Star War. Live long andβ¦ whatever the other thing. Youβd think being a big-time monster fightboy, heβd learn something useful, instead of just a bunch of movie cliches.β
She paused, considering her past misadventures with the group.
βItβs right behind me, isnβt it.β
(It is, in fact, right behind her)
my favourite part of doing must be tuesday revised was writing the dumb little short story at the front

the reason i Do Stuff Online is i was an obsessive webcomic reader as a teen; i did a little email interview with Fred Gallagher of Megatokyo for a school project!
so the siloing of webcomics from websites and collectives into one giant corporate-owned walled garden just... infuriates me to no end

this is something I see so few people grapple with. Every instance of supposed rogue behavior in LLMs can be explained by the fact that their training data included thousands of science fiction stories. "omg it's acting just like an AI in a sci fi novel" yeah no shit moron

two versions of a marine walking forward with flamer leveled. the model on the left has his whole body tucked in, creating a scrunched pose. the one on the right is walking taller, straighter, and has the flamer slung low. he looks a lot more menacing for it

2 3d renders of an infernus marine preparing to throw a grenade. the one on the left, made a year ago, is stiff and strangely balanced. The one on the right has the arm back at full extension, the entire body curved and the leading arm held further out for balance. the two poses are nearly identical in broad strokes but have completely different levels of energy
i feel this one is a really good example of the little things you learn after doing something for a while. the guy on the left looks like he's hold the pose, the guy on the right looks like he was snapped right before the grenade left his hand. and its all just a few angles difference.

a two page spread from Must Be Tuesday Revised, showing the Connections rules for building relationships to other characters and using them to affect the Balance track. The art shows the game's sample Angel, Isaac, being hugged out of pressing the big Flood The World button by the sample demon, Tiffany
making serious progress finishing the arts for the full release of Must Be Tuesday Revived, and this one was simple but came out well
the full version will not only have all the art, but includes a bunch of new pages of guidelines, rules refinements, improved confrontation rules,

lessons i've learned include generally keeping the bodies more upright and twisting them into actions more, turning feet to exaggerate weight, lifing the head more to allow more neck movement, and use angled weapons and limbs to expand the silhouette

two takes on an infernus sergeant. on the left is the year-old version whose pose (flamer held under one arm with a pistol drawn) is stiff and awkwardly balanced, on the right is a more dynamic version of a similar pose, with the pistol being aimed, the weapon held more securely, and the head tilted into the action
as i was laying out my batch painting order, i noticed that, in addition to having a lot of print errors, my infernus marines (some of the very first ones i posed in this project) were just... incredibly stiff and lifeless
so i figured i might as well redo them? old on the left, new on the right
