What a phenomenal year for death metal. I hope next year is equally amazing.

I call my right arm "the sticker sleeve". The idea being that, as time goes by, I start to layer tattoos on top of each other like stickers on monitor or a binder or whatever.

Hundreds of dollars and many years but all worth it.

Exactly what I did.

Left arm is all Mandalorian shit. Right is Oscar the Grouch as a crust punk, Neversoft logo, 40k Ork logo, Enderman, Trogdor, J. Wimpy Wellington, two tribute pieces, just...whatever seemed like a cool idea.

This is MOSTLY old school death but some other stuff is mixed in.

Fuck. I fucking love this shit so much.

These albums have 2 things in common: they're all death, and they all released this year.

My hyperfocus on death this year is wild, even to me. I can't remember the last time I was this hung up on 1 genre.

I do remember the last time I was, it was melodeath (go figure).

Then again, with Michael Jackson's schedule back in the day, would make sense as he was always on the move. Probably multiple studios too.

Christ it's like for every track they just hired a whole new crew of musicians.

Got home, started watching the original Star Wars trilogy, then gonna listen to some cosmic black metal, smoke weed, and vibe to Minecraft until I pass out.

This is how you start a weekend.

For me, Testament IS thrash. I love tons of thrash metal, but if you asked me where to start, this is my pick every time.

Favorite album? I do love the new stuff, I always go back for more "Souls of Black". Start to finish, I never get sick of this album. And the bass work from Greg Christian really just stands out here for me, especially the title track.

What has really impressed me with Testament over the years is that each album somehow gets heavier than the last. Instead of just maintaining, they've continued to find ways to improve, become heavier, faster. Even Chuck taps into almost death metal growls.

Killer riffs abound all their work. Chuck Billy is an amazing vocalist. Steve Di Giorgio (as well as former member Greg Christian) do phenomenal work on the bass. Maybe it's just my love for bass guitar, but they really made it shine.

Back again with a new band shirt: Testament

This is absolutely my favorite thrash metal band of all time. I fucking love Testament. I am a huge believer they should have been one of the Big 4.

Your description has me intrigued. So I'm going to go start my weekend with checking out this album, smoking weed, and playing Minecraft.

Testament being anti-AI is based as fuck.

Proving why, yet again, they are my favorite thrash band and should replace Megadeth in the Big 4.

I bring to the link to the beginning of my new little writing project. Nothing super fancy, just an introduction post on Tumblr. But going to start my first in depth post soon! Hope you guys are interested in my ramblings.

The fact they brought in the guy from Thy Listless Heart for vocals *chef's kiss*. I found both bands at the same time, and having them come together was a dream come true.

Even at my lowest, I maintain my brutality.

*This is the last shirt for now. I mean, come on, of course I'm going to get more! So, until the next installment, I will say this: I have plans for more indepth talks about bands in a similar format, so keep an eye out for when I announce this new little project.

If you ask me where to start, well, the correct answer is any album. But I personally recommend "Mercenary". It hooked me that hardest, and there are some work nights I listen to just that for 8 straight hours.

All that to say: FUCKING BOLT THROWER

As the years went by, each album progressively started to gain a little more groove, super catchy riffs, but made 0 sacrifice to the brutality. Flawless album after flawless album, for 8 whole albums.

Their first 3 albums were pure death. Sheer, raw, unrepentant brutality, perfectly matching their Warhammer 40k theme. They slaughtered their way into the world, raining fire on the world.

This is the absolute peak of death for me. There is no wrong answer for a favorite album because every single one hits so hard. This is the sound of war, extreme violence, and chaos.

I could literally just say BOLT THROWER and leave it at that, but that's be a cop out. And we don't do that shit here. So let's talk about the greatest death metal ever.
