I can tell you firsthand how bad, cruel, and harsh impoverishment is when it hits you. The actions the current administration is taking are just plain unnecessary and simply cruel.

I fear we are on the precipice of experiencing such an event here in 2025 America under the 2nd Trump presidency.

This is my reality out of millions of others. This is my story as a 31-year-old stroke survivor at 27. Empathy and kindness. These things go further than hate and judgments. Plato once said, "The highest form of knowledge is empathy. It requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world."🤘🖤

My pride is hurt as I am not living like a typical 31-year-old parent or person. My career is nonexistent after the abrupt forced pause. My academic mind struggles to remember the simplest of common historical facts. I cannot play with my kids nor lift, carry, and change our toddlers. Nothing. (PT7)

Nonetheless, like many others in am sure, my family struggles alongside me. My wife dies everything because even the few chores I do are impossible most days. When I once stretched a whole day's worth of energy across a typical 7-day week, I now have none. It is the worst. It is awful. (PT6)

I may not be as bad off as others who struggle with illnesses daily. Apparently, it was bad enough to lose a job in the same month I started it, and the other shortly before and after it. Now, employers are openly denying me and ignoring me because of my illnesses and yes, even my gender. (PT5)

Disability, Medicaid, SNAP, etc, all of it is for those who are struggling and have no other way to provide for their families. As a they/them stroke survivor, my life unexpectedly changed 4 years ago and never returned to "normal." One good-ish year gone as soon as it came. Now pain is daily. (PT3)

I am just one of many others who struggle with chronic issues like this daily. The ability to do anything is significantly less than I would like, but the recovery process is a bear. With a family of 6 to support, disability isn't a luxury. It is a final resort because employers rejected me. (PT2)

4 years ago I had my first migraine-induced stroke (TIA/mini stroke). I recovered and now struggle with complex migraines most of the year, fibromyalgia most days, and neuropathy daily. Chronic pain illnesses are the worst. But it is even worse being written off about them because I am 31. (Pt1)

Evangelicalism and fundamentalism groomed an entire generation for creating a theocracy in the US. Instead, it bred deconstructionism of the religious trauma and abuse dealt against an entire generation. As a formerly raised evangelical millennial, "Happy Shiny People" is exposing this tremendously.

Words never matter. Votes do. Actions, no matter how silent and small, speak louder than words. July 1, 2025, showed all of America that.

Much is happening in the US currently. It is exactly what we studied throughout history and what we warned about before this point. This presidential administration doubled down on their illegal, unconstitutional efforts. Resistance is not just a choice, it is our collective civic duty.

If you are not angry then you are not listening. I, on the other hand, will not be silent.

I’ve read too much science fiction too many dystopian novels and too many poems on civil rights to be quiet…
