We're grateful for the Black poets whose work enriches, shapes, and challenges our poetry landscape. This week, we feature stunning poets: NIKKI WALLSCHLAEGER (@nikkimwalls.bsky.social), PATRICIA SPEARS JONES (@pksj51.bsky.social), KEITH S. WILSON (@keithwilsonpoet.bsky.social), and JUNE JORDAN.

29.01.2025 23:49 β π 44 π 20 π¬ 0 π 0In case it isnβt clear, this is a concentration camp. Please call your reps, tell them to demand complete stoppage of the use of Guantanamo Bay as a Trumpβs concentration camp, and use that language so thereβs no mistaking what weβre talking about here.

24.11.2024 02:57 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am getting a lot of new follows from people recently adding bluesky. can I ask someone who followed me recently: how are you following people? Is bluesky recommending people you may know?
I added this a while ago when it felt like there was only like 3 people on here so I'm not sure lol
Folks: A number of the most committed fascist trolls are coming over here and trying to create a presence, presumably bc Xitter will quickly lose its value as everyone migrates. One way to combat them is to use @numb.comfortab.ly 's list to mass block them.
08.11.2024 13:35 β π 2724 π 1182 π¬ 124 π 102I posted on Facebook about how something he had written was nonsense and he was friends with me at the time (from McDowell where we briefly met) and he responded to me with "does this mean we're not friends anymore?" And "I said that's up to you" and he unfriended me. Safe space indeed
17.11.2024 08:52 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Like this isn't a criticism of anything. Just that either best game means something different than an aggregate score of other wins (and needs a different name?) or it doesn't mean anything different (and doesn't super need to exist as a distinct category)
08.12.2023 17:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think if it's the case that winning in one or several categories also means it's weird you didn't win in others, maybe some of those categories don't actually need to exist

Parents... please check your children's candy tonight. I just went through SalomΓ© Athena's haul and I found a copy of the Jorge Luis Borges short story collection "The Garden of Forking Paths". This metatextual exploration may be too advanced for young readers.

13.10.2023 22:21 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0we didn't exactly see poetry the same way but louise said more than one thing about my work and my thoughts that mean more to me than i know how to express. and the thing about them is she never said things just to be nice: she meant them
13.10.2023 22:21 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i got to work with Louise GlΓΌck and met with her several times about my poetry. the last time, she said: "why do you keep looking at your phone?" that's where my poems were. 06.10.2023 21:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0there's a thing i heard said at a game design conference about how changes toward accessibility are expensive but designing it that way to begin with is free. this is true beyond monetary cost tooβthat thinking about it in the first place can create cool things that BEGIN as more accessible
06.10.2023 20:14 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Also, because of the topic of this thread I remembered to use the alt-text function for the images I posted, but writing them both reminds me of how hard even this is (what do you describe and how?) and THAT reminds me of this excellent project:

I own a collection of lyric essays as an ebook and it is entirely unreadable on my computer without a special plugin that lets me magnify the entire book. My vision is 20/20 but to maintain the layout of the text on the page, it has been shrunken beyond my ability to read it
