Very excited to start working on this deck, because this is the closest to my preferred play style I have found so far in all of Disney Lorcana!

Raging Storm > Spooky Sight. No limitations, and the 2 ink does not make a huge difference with all of the ramp we have. I never missed ramp on T2, but I did miss Cindy on T4 some. Rd 3 I used another 2-drop ramp T3 and it seemed okay. Maybe want a 9th T2 ramp?

Some things I learned...

Horseman Strikes did nothing for me all day. Part of me wants to trim down on it for another removal card. My initial thought is World's Greatest Criminal Mind or Sudden Scare.

Round 3 was another set of great games. G1 I did the control thing. G2 I didn't draw removal. G3 I drew all the things. Pete was the VIP this whole match.

Round 2 did not go how I expected. Crushed G1, got out aggro'd G2, but the removal kept flowing G3. A note: my opp didn't realize that you have to pay for 2-drop Lilo every turn. He thought she immediately came back when she's banished.

Round 1 was interesting. Game 1 was super close. Opp got to 19 lore and I was able to wipe the board. Cleared 1-2 characters a turn for the next ~6 turns while getting to 11 lore before finally not drawing removal. G2 and 3 were each one sided where one player's deck stalled.

Sharing the decklist I found on dreamborn, but swapped the 4th Raging Storm for a 3rd Spooky Sight (didn't have the 4th Storm)

Thinking about it on the drive home, opp had made the comment about not wanting to play me in the Top 8, so perhaps he truly didn't feel favored.

Overall, I finally feel like my focus is paying off. In a year where I want to attend a large event, this is definitely the way to start!

While I don't completely feel like this was a win for me (this opp was the one person I didn't want to face in the Top 8 due to feeling like he knew how to navigate the matchup) it was technically a concession.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

He mentioned having a few different champion mats already, as well as one from a DLC. I mentioned that this was only my second set champs and my first top 8, in which he doubled down, telling me I deserved it then. He also said his wife would probably like to get home before the snow storm.

Finals OTP vs 🔵⚪ 👑👑

Opp here is the same person I faced in Rd 4. After winning his Top 4 match, he asked me if I cared which mat I got (our LGS makes a custom 2nd place mat now that Ravensburger stopped including them). I told him I would like to play for it, and he said, "You can have it."

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

G1 - I was a little faster here, but knew when to slow for a moment to keep the board under control.

G 2 - Opp was faster this game, but I knew to hit the breaks, play from a control standpoint, and kept chipping away. This allowed me to win a turn earlier than he would have.

Top 4 OTP vs 🟣🔴 👑👑

Opp here is the son of the TO, plays pretty seriously, and was the same kid who watched me beat my 🟡🟢 opp Rd 5 that he lost to Rd 4. What he saw in Rd 5 gave him some ideas on how to beat the same opp in the Top 8.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Top 8 OTP vs 🟡🔵 Support 👑👑

Opp here is a brewer who knows how to play well. It definitely plays in their favor when they compete.

This shook out very similarly to Rd 5 where i was able to control the board G1 and stumbled a little G2, but win both games after getting things under control.

Top 8

At this point our opp win % ended in a way that seeded me 1st for the top 8, so I was on the play the entire time! This was a relief, as it allowed me to go into each match with a solid game plan in the instance that I did not know what my opp was on, which was the case in the first match.

Rd 6 ID 🤝

My opp this round would have been a regular at the shop. Her and her husband both attend regularly and are both great players. I was relieved when she approached me about IDing into the top 8.

I learned later that she was on 🟡🟣 midrange (spoiler, I never ended up playing her).

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

G2 - This one was much closer. I didn't have as much interaction as I would like, which caused the game to be much closer. Once I finally did get things under control, it was a quick win.

Note: the kid that lost to this guy in the previous round watched our match after he finished his own.

Rd 5 OTP vs 🟡🟢 Hyper Aggro 👑👑

I watched this player next to me in Rd 4 play against another person on 🟣🔴, and he was able to slip under the kid bc the kid didn't realize he needed to play in a controlling manner.

G1 - I controlled the board until he had nothing left, then sped to the finish line.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Something to note here that will be important later: my opp after Rd 4 made the comment to me that he really hoped to not have to face me in the Top 8. He said that he thought my deck, played the way I played it, was the one place he felt like his list had a weakness.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

G2 - I hit the gas hard in this game. That balanced with opp not drawing well led to me winning, albeit not quickly as I controlled the board while winning.

Note: Opp pointed out that he had Spooky Sight a turn earlier and opted not to play it G1. Had he, he may have controlled me enough to win.

Rd 4 OTP vs 🔵⚪ 👑👑

Opp this round is one of the serious players that comes down from Pittsburgh to play in an extra Set Champs.

G1 - Super close. He played Spooky Sight, which I was not expecting. He had control, but I was able to balance interaction and small characters to chip away for the win.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

G2 - Much closer. She got a Chromicon on board that slowed my ability to control her board. The race was close, and I knew the Tramp that buffs a character could keep her alive. After winning, she looked at the top cards and Go Go Tomago was 2 down. Had she drawn this, we would have gone to G3.

Rd 3 OTP vs 🟡🟢 Dogs (& Ducks)

Opp is the wife of the TO. She openly plays for fun, but still knows what she's doing. She opts to play decks that are interesting to her rather than a meta list, but is able to keep them competitive.

G1 - I was able to control the board, build up, and win fast.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

G2 - I realized I needed to step on the gas and be the aggressor, which led me to win very quickly.

G3 - I stayed aggressive this game, but opp had a little more interaction. Luckily, I had interaction as well to keep his board in control while chipping away. Got there before he got his footing.

Rd 2 OTD vs 🔵⚪ 💀👑👑

Opp is a semi-serious player who plays at the shop, but not super frequently. He has played 🔵⚪ since before Fabled, but I hadn't realized this.

G1 - I was too focused on the fact that he was much more familiar with the game and made the mistake of trying to control the board.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Rd 1 OTD vs 🟡🟢 Dogs 👑👑

Opp started the round by admitting that she had never won a game before (not sure if she meant game or match). She played okay, but over-focused on questing and did not interact at all with my board. Her list was solid, but I believe I'm favored in the matchup no matter what.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Before my round by round breakdown, I want to note that this is my typical LGS. It is extremely family oriented while also having some players who take the game rather seriously. This, paired with a handful of players who travel down from Pittsburgh, leads to a very eclectic room of players.

26.01.2026 03:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I wanted to play a tempo list so that I could control the board when playing against someone on an aggro list, while being able to run underneath the midrange lists with the capability to still interact with them. In the end, I think my read on the meta really played in my favor overall.

As far as my list, the set champs meta at this shop tends to lean aggressively with a handful of midrage decks. While I tested 🟢🔵 at the same shop last week to success, I knew I would not be favored if I tried that this weekend. Instead I opted for a build of 🟣🔴 that played more like a tempo deck.
