Was only thinking of this clip this morning, remember thinking β€œBecause I read…” is a beautiful riposte.

I put in a shift and a half yesterday πŸ₯΅ So many animals and birds being admitted with dehydration at the moment. If you can only do one thing, please put out a shallow dish - or two - of water in your garden for the wildlife. It really can save lives πŸ¦” 🐦 🦊 🐭 🦑 🐰

Not sure the Dark Ages had a lot going for it tbh, odd to make it aspirational.

Utterly brilliant. Also reinforces my theory that things were built better in the β€˜old days’ when I was young. 😊
As your man would say, β€˜fascinating’. πŸ‘

Lovely. Not quite low enough for crab island, but oh boy spent some very happy hours in this bit of water.
Beautiful pic for a Sunday morning, thank you.

Genuinely surprised he wasn’t Scottish! And had no idea re his D-Day heroics.
What a life he led, and he nailed that role. Would have never heard of dilithium crystals or regularly replied to people β€˜I’m giving it all she’s got’ when I was at sea if it wasn’t for Scotty. Genuine hero.

Have to say, what a sadly compelling picture this is.
The beauty of the swans, quietly being swans in their natural environment, contrasted with the dark, killing machines in the distance, capable of so much destruction & pain.

20 yr old Vitinha scores a winning goal for Wolves v Chorely,
FA Cup, 2021.
25 yr old Vitinha wins Champions league with PSG v Milan, 2025.
Funny how things unfold.

Think my old Green River is in the attic now (in my Ditty bag!). Along with a marlin spike the chief engineer made for me from a piston he removed from the main engine!
I remember seeing a stiletto blade years ago, didn’t seem designed for rigging!!

Yes that’s true, but in the 19th Century Green River had a great reputation for quality, it was a US brand, they were durable and kept a really good edge, so were common at sea.
My dad bought me one and told me all about it when I joined as 2nd mate in mid β€˜80s.

I used to sail square rigged ships and the classic riggers knives carried by the crew were β€˜Green River’. Which I had.
Traditionally the tips were always broken off and blunted when joining a ship, as was mine, to reduce chances of serious injury in β€˜misunderstandings’ on a long passage.

Just too many changes, most not quite good enough.
First XI is good but depth lacking.

β€œThank you for your attention in this matter”.
It’s like he’s poured all his anger, vitriol and dirge uncontrollably out, then thinks, it needs a bit of balance to show how mature and in control I am.
I’m sure he bewilders himself never mind others.

It’s incredible isn’t it. Scary even, the immediate assumptions and blame that people leap to.
It happens.
Has happened to me in the past but was resolved before required.
