TTC told to look at its response to extreme weather after 10 days of snowy commuter frustration | CBC News In the days since Toronto's double dose of heavy snow, commuters have faced unplowed sidewalks, mounds of ice around transit stops, streetcars stopped dead by parked cars, and subway and bus delays.

The TTC doesn’t have service standards for how transit stops are cleared. This is wildly unacceptable, and impacts so many transit riders, especially those with accessibility issues.

Shout out to Councillor Matlow for putting serious solutions forward, and to Chair Myers for his support.

The left has Progress Toronto. A new advocacy group hopes to fill gap on centre-right | CBC News A new political advocacy group in Toronto is hoping to make a mark on municipal politics — and could be a sign of an evolving role and influence of third party groups in Toronto elections.

This group is not centrist, they are right-wing. They support removing bike lanes, are opposed to tax increases, and believe in unconstitutional protest “bubble zones”.

This is literally a Brad Bradford front operation.

Ironically, if Ford would have just updated MPACs when he was supposed to, Toronto likely wouldn’t have to increase its property taxes by 6.9% this year.

So in a roundabout way, it’s Doug Ford’s fault your taxes are going up.

The reason? Updating assessments will caused commercial and residential property taxes to grow.

Of course, Ford doesn’t want to be responsible for a tax increase, putting political interest over responsible policy.

We need to talk about how the Ford government continues to delay updating municipal property tax assessment.

Property values in Toronto are still based on their 2016 assessed values. Meanwhile, average home prices have increased from 600k to 1.1mil since.

We are now living in a Broligarchy

My take on this is that transportation services has strongly resisted pedestrianization. Instead of pushing back and showing vision for our City, Chow has capitulated to a risk-averse bureaucracy

I hate to be a pessimist but I don’t have a lot of hope that American political leaders will learn anything from this.
