Wow, the Dem primary turnout among Hispanic voters in Texas is going to be giving the GOP sweats for the next 8 months.

Take Zapata County - turnout in the Dem primary there yesterday was 143% the total number of votes Harris won in the 2024 general election. That's wild.

Here are 4 districts the TX GOP gerrymandered to gain seats in November, with the Dem and GOP primary vote. Dems outvoted GOPs in every one of them.

The legacy of the Big Lie lives on... and this next generation of the "rigged election" strategy is going to be even more challenging than the last.

Re: the debacle in the Texas primary today: Lies about voter fraud (from past elections) motivate and justify retaliatory actions and policy changes that make elections less fair and lead to more turmoil, more confusion and uncertainty, more rumors and legitimate greivance, and diminished trust.

It only orders the Democratic primary to set aside the extended hours votes. Does not change the GOP’s primary election there. Parties run the primaries & this is more likely a sow distrust and chaos trial run/play by Paxton β€” won’t help his vote count there.

I had forgotten (somehow) about her comments on Latino voters. Either candidate was going to have to reach out and bring the constituency they didn’t carry into the camp, post-primary.

Guy will be a thorn in Abbott’s side β€” been a while since we had a GOP comptroller and a GOP governor not getting along β€” gotta go back to Strayhorn and Perry.

Well, it may not be your jam, but he is not pandering on faith. He’s literally in the seminary right now. It’s a very central part of who he is but in a more relatable way than a lot of folks in the GOP who call themselves Christians

People outside of Texas know her from her sound bites and camera time on cable and in committee β€” she’s powerful and talented, but Talarico is not inexperienced and has been a rock star for a while around txlege, especially with public ed community.

Soft is not a word I’d use to describe how he legislates. Fighter, absolutely he is. He’s not a showboat but has always reminded me a bit of Pete Buttigieg. Damn smart and always prepared.

Have you followed his career in the Texas Legislatureβ€”smart, hard working, effective, and a passionate advocate. He can eviscerate the opposition with grace and power. His work from committee dais and at the back mic on the floor is very strong.

04.03.2026 04:29 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That’s actually one thing that bothered me β€” she’s a fighter and a star (They both are, as you said) but I didn’t see the β€œexperienced” part for her β€” limited time in Congress and even shorter time in txlege. That, with what I saw as crossover appeal, is why I went Talarico in the primary

An internal survey conducted by Talarico’s campaign in late January put his name recognition among Black voters at 62% and his favorability among Black Texans who know him at 87%, according to spokesperson JT Ennis, suggesting that even if Talarico is unable to peel off many Black voters from Crockett in the primary, he could still earn their support in the general election if he wins in March.

Come the general election, I think he will work and will build the tent he needs to win.

Sit it out and get more Trump and MAGA. That’s the single issue in November.

I hear ya but I don’t think they get ignored by him - or the rest of the statewide ticket on Dem side as I’m seeing it shake out.

I just don’t see them sitting it out unless Crockett refuses to do the right thing once the votes in Dallas County are settled β€” and campaign with him and with the larger ticket.

Numbers were just not strong enough even in Dallas Co. Underperformed in a lot of areas.

He needs to work on bringing more of the Black vote into his camp, but his dominance with Latino voters was huge. I think he has a better chance of drawing disaffected Republicans and Independents out. The fact the Dem candidate for Gov was leading Abbott among Ind by double digits is πŸ‘€
