C sections not available in our community. A 2 hour drive to get one. All because the AC is down in our local hospital.

Point taken. C sections not available in our community due to a loss of AC at our hospital in a heat wave.

I manage a VAW shelter and had to fight to fund AC for rooms. Rooms where bars (to keep men out) prevented windows from opening. Where fire code made it mandatory that doors remained closed. Those rooms becoming like hot prisons for women who didn’t do anything wrong. Ah patriarchy. AC is freedom.

Be grateful it isn’t Sept 1st when you realized that. Those parents are not having a good day.

I read this again and want to clarify, every one of us had an immigrant parent/ancestor or are an immigrant…our indigenous neighbours are also building things up but aren’t immigrants.

Almost every one of us aside from our Indigenous neighbours had a parent just trying to do right by the next generation and build things up. This video makes me cry. Go dad!

I stocked up on woke ideology today at this incredible national treasure of a museum and the radical idea that all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. As your journey to the light in this museum you begin to see messages from young people hoping for a better world.

Young people SHOULD “have it easier” than you did. I’m sorry you got the strap up hill both ways and paid your debts with pounds of flesh, but the reason we work for progress is to make growing up and growing old gentler, easier, kinder, freer. Struggle isn’t necessary in a healthy society.

In small town Canada, it’s still true even if she was the nurse at your birth, played the piano at your grade 8 graduation and plays bridge with your mom every week.
