it’s a challenge for me to embrace the imperfections of printmaking. I’m trying to begin using them in my process, rather than attempt to override them.

my goal was to think more about how the negative spaces will reveal the image compared to my usual method of drawing what i want the print to look like.

this time around i tried drawing white on black, focusing on what i would be cutting away versus what i’m leaving behind. i inverted the colours before transferring the image, marking what i will carve away.

my current routine of transferring my drawings onto lino before i begin to carve. and of course, all accompanied by the sounds of the city.

i swear my lizards are just tiny cats hidden in a reptilian body, haha

i drew this in treatment around this time, nearly three years ago.

i’d look out the window, watching people go about their day.

now, as i walk past, i think about what it might look like to those sitting at that same window.
