For those curious, the statue of a pioneer family dubbed "The Promised Land" formerly of Portland's Chapman Square has left town.
The statue was taken down after being vandalized in 2020.
According to the city, it was returned to the artist who made it in Enterprise, OR earlier this month.

18.10.2025 17:39 β π 25 π 5 π¬ 0 π 1White words on a black background read: 50+ Immigration agents have the authority to detain whom they reasonably suspect are in the country illegally. We found more than 50 Americans who were held after agents questioned their citizenship. They were almost all Latino. ~130 Agents also can arrest citizens who allegedly interfered with or assaulted officers. We compiled cases of about 130 Americans, including a dozen elected officials, accused of assaulting or impeding officers. ~20 Among the citizens detained are nearly 20 children, including two with cancer.
Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.
I did it because the government isnβt.
This is what I found.
Our annual conference is tomorrow in Eugene! We now have a full schedule for all of our sessions. More info about the schedule, tickets and more can be found here:

OPB/KMHD's union has been bargaining its first contract with mgmt for 16 mos. It's been... frustrating.
Here's a way to support/follow updates as we inch toward gaining some earned respect & support from OPB leadership during a bonkers, endless newscycle:
Tuesday, we attended the OPB Board of Directors meeting in solidarity.
We sent a letter to the board asking them to invest in us, the creators of the content our communities rely on. We haven't received a response. Read the letter here.
We are determined to get the contract we deserve!
BREAKING from PP
We found immigration agents have held more than 170 *citizens*
The govt doesn't track citizens held. So we did. We tallied:
Nearly 20 kids, two w/ cancer
More than 20 citizens held for day or more, incommunicado

15.10.2025 22:27 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0From one of our donors: βI make a monthly donation to ProPublica because I value the work of the ProPublica reporters. They deserve a fair contractβ
From a ProPublica reader: βTheyβre asking for reasonable job security protections and a fair contract. How you act and meet this moment has significant implications for the wider world.β
From a former ProPublican: βHi Robin and Steve! I loved working at ProPublica and believed strongly in its mission. I still do. β¦ Please agree to the contract, because itβs the least that hard-working ProPublicans deserve.β
From a ProPublica reader: βDo the right thing, ProPublicaβweβre watching.β
Many of the signers also eloquently shared why they support our union and our calls for the contract rights we deserve, including Just Cause job security, steward representation throughout the disciplinary process and guardrails around artificial intelligence implementation.
