UCLA should not bend 'on their knees' to Trump in grant negotiations, Newsom says Making his first public comments about how the University of California should proceed in negotiations with President Trump over grant freezes, Gov. Gavin Newsom chided deals struck by Ivy Leagues and said the university would do 'the right thing.'

I hope this helps universities see why it’s dumb to β€œmake a deal.” As the EO shows, Trump wants to destroy successful American R1s and reprogram funds as he sees fit, regardless of the law. He is not a reliable counterparty. Fighting him is scary, but it’s the only path to secure funding. (5/5)

Just to give the TL;DR on this one:

*The* main purpose of the EO is to move funding priorities and decisions away from experts and career professionals over to political appointees. With the ultimate power held by Vought / OMB.

Gentle reminder that immigrants are more than their economic worth. Immigrants are more than their labor. Immigrants are more than their work ethic.

ICE targeted an elementary school graduation to target allegedly undocumented parents.

ICE is arresting US citizens & documented immigrants, all without a warrant.

Now as people peacefully organize against ICE fascism, Trump deploys the National Guard against us.

Fascism isn’t coming. It’s here.

The Trump administration wants to punish universities and students for exercising their free speech rights.

Put simply: The president is making up rules that don't exist and bullying schools that don't toe the line.

BREAKING: In a major civil rights victory, a federal court today issued a preliminary injunction barring Border Patrol from using stop-and-arrest practices that violate federal law and the U.S. Constitution.

They can’t target people just because they’re Brown, or day laborers, or farm workers.

Three U.S. citizens, ages 2, 4 and 7, swiftly deported from Louisiana The cases have renewed concerns that the Trump administration’s expedited deportations are violating the rights of both citizens and noncitizens.

The Trump administration deported two families, including three U.S. citizen children, after cutting them off from their lawyers and disregarding one of the child's need for cancer medication.

This is inhumane and illegal.

BREAKING: We’re suing the Trump administration to block the president’s attempt to end birthright citizenship.

An executive order does not have the power to override the Constitution.
