🌍 Build green economic partnerships. Support southern ambitions for industrialisation.

🌏 Invest in knowledge and networks. Reverse budget cuts to diplomatic missions, academic and cultural exchanges.

Recommendations in short:

🌍 Reposition Europe & NL. Strengthen relations with Global South, on basis of equality, mutual interest and respect for international law, and address double standards.

🌏 Support multilateral reform and join southern-led initiatives.

The report presents 4 geopolitical #scenarios, varying in type of polarity and extent of polarisation, discussing implications for EU & Global South.

For both, a dominant bipolar rivalry scenario is undesirable. Europe should strengthen ties with Global South to avoid this.

The rise of the Global South is particularly clear in international #trade.

In 1995, Europe was the most important trading partner continent for most countries in Africa, Latin America & West/South Asia.

By 2022, almost all these countries traded more with Asia than with Europe
