Celebrating death and destruction is never the answer, even if it is the death of one that you hate, or that has hated many.

On this day, we remember the martyrdom of St. Valentine, a priest who defied imperial orders to minister to persecuted Christians and perform forbidden marriages. Arrested and sentenced to death, he remained steadfast in faith, reportedly healing his jailer’s blind daughter before his execution.

Sounds like modern evangelical Protestantism. I assure you, the original church teachings are infinitely kinder and transformative.
The problem is us people and the way we treat each other, not Jesus.

I don’t disagree with the atheist chaos part and I cannot speak on the American Evangelicals, but you are grossly misrepresenting the Orthodox Church. The Russian Orthodox Church is an institution older than modern Russia itself and it withstood intense persecution during the Soviet Union.

I was raised an #Orthodox but left the #faith for a time. Life took me through adversity—trauma, a difficult relationship, and eventually becoming a parent. In the midst of it all, I found my way back to Orthodoxy.
