Always do your research when you sense a medical practitioner, for humans OR pets is not fully researching the negatives of any procedure. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it, by any means. What you’re doing may still be good, but find someone discussing the full ramifications of the negatives.

I then got told when I replied with this that how upset I was getting showed that I knew I was being biased about it, when I was upset because I was being told I was seeking confirmation bias when I lost a deposit and many hours of sleep, seeking out more balanced information.

While I’m open to it, if I found well document research for my own health that something my clinicians were saying should always be done, and research was saying should be evaluated based on risks, I wouldn’t do it till I found an expert that wanted to actually assess risks and benefits fairly.

They both came to the same conclusion, the veterinary industry needs to analyze risks and benefits for each pet more, based on their health risks and temperament. The vets I’d spoken to up to this point all had the approach of “the answer is always to neuter” or “necessary procedure”

For those that don’t know what a meta anylysis is, it’s a study of studies, combining the research of a bunch of sources. In my case, I looked at two studies with 100+ studies as sources.

Because, I decided last minute I didn’t have the data to consider neutering my dog appropriate for him. Not because I think neutering is bad, but because when I got anxious I looked for a meta analysis of risks and benefits.
