I marvel sometimes that I am constantly chatting with friends in Spain, England, and Egypt and I take it for granted … my Irish writer friend in France made this for me today because I can’t stop dropping “ensorcell” … I told him we should write a fake spell book on the hoary art of “ensorcellment.”

I find it fascinating that the ancient art of astrology has morphed to conform to the 24 hour news cycle. And how this obsessive day checking hearkens back to the most popular publications in the printing cultures of the 16 & 1700s - almanacs showing daily planetary motion.

I’m from the 90s. One of my first astrology teachers sent out a monthly newsletter in the actual mail. Because of slower communication systems, you didn’t get the astrology of the day or the week, but the month or the season. Piddly daily transits were no part of my education bc we thought in epochs

30-year astrologer here and I just like to remark occasionally that micro astro predictions such as these have no precedent in popular media except maybe 16th & 17th c almanacs. It’s like as soon as a new medium becomes accessible to common people, we use it to see if our crush likes us back.

Music has such a visceral effect on me … I haven’t listened to Enya in 30 years but it’s awakening these body states of being 16 and in therapy when it was enough just to have feelings. It’s this series of memes that inspired me 🤣

Completely failed at getting my kid to choose Cotton Mather for his historical Halloween character at school. I made such a powerful pitch and even pulled out Magnalia Christi Americana. My kid doubted that this was really an important guy. My PhD means nothing to him.

At least I wasn’t going to get course credit for it anyway, because my masters program couldn’t manage to get the paperwork done in six whole months. 🤷🏻‍♀️
